New Quay has safe sandy beaches and a picturesque harbour. The town is set into the hillside having grown from a few thatched cottages in the early 19th century.

The town grew after the harbour was built in 1835 and still, today, many local people are employed in the fishing industry.

There are a population of dolphins living in Cardigan Bay and regular boat trips to see them are available.
